Dr. Beni Giraspy has over 15 years experience in sea cucumber aquaculture commercial technology development and operations management in Australia, The Maldives and India. He is specialized in the large scale production of commercially important tropical sea cucumbers. He has developed first commercial tropical sea cucumber hatchery in the Maldives for sea farming. Also he has developed Australia’s first commercial hatchery funded by Federal government of Australia under farm innovation programme and produced millions of tropical sea cucumber juveniles for sea farming and sea-ranching.

His expertise includes: Sea cucumber Project feasibility study, site selection, selection of sea cucumber species for commercial production, hatchery design and operation, facility and equipment, broodstock acquisition, maintenance
and conditioning, intensive larval rearing methods, larval settlement cues, juvenile grow out methods, health management and sea ranching, monitoring of sea ranched sea cucumbers, harvesting and processing and marketing.

He is responsible for the development of Sea Cucumber Consultancy’s unique commercial production technologies for the most valuable tropical sea cucumbers Holothuria scabra (sandfish) and Holothuria lessoni (Golden sandfish). Currently Dr. Beni’s team is developing mass production technologies for other economically valuable sea cucumber species. As the Principal Consultant of Sea Cucumber Consultancy, he oversees all aspects of a project.
